History of HIV/AIDS
In the early years of the HIV, it was an unknown virus that was untreatable and often fatal. Although more research has developed and people have an overall better understanding of HIV. There have been the development of highly effective drugs for treatments of HIV.
Researchers have found the origin of HIV in the 1930s, though the first diagnosis of AIDS was made in 1981 in Canada. The first Canadian death to AIDS was in 1983, and approximately 21 000 people here in Canada have died while infected with HIV or AIDS.
HIV/AIDS first appeared in Canada as a disease of gay male population and in people infected through blood supply.
